This photograph was taken at The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado. This sanctuary rescues animals from horrific captive situations and rehabilitate them so they can live and roam freely within large natural habitats with others of their own kind. There are 789-acres of natural habitats with 1.5 miles of elevated walkways. These elevated walkways provide a way for the public to visit without stressing the animals. This nonprofit amazing place has saved the lives of nearly 100 animals (91 lions, tigers, wolves & bears) associated with the Netflix documentary " Tiger King". They now live and roam freely inside beautiful large acreage habitats. During my visit I was able to photograph many of these beautiful animals and observe how content and happy they were. They played, swam, enjoyed the sun, ran, wrestled each other, and ran more, because they could! They are finally able to enjoy life. My name is Shirley Dutchkowski and I have collections of artwork, as well as photography. I did my first painting in January of 2019. I read somewhere to "embrace the loneliness and reinvent yourself" and that's exactly what I did that winter. I started painting. As a new artist, I found creating to be my salvation. Art has the ability to free the mind and cleanse the soul. It provides a release of all that holds us stuck in time and takes us to the most wonderful places. I hope you enjoy my work and it takes you somewhere special. https://oakhavenart.com/ © Copyright 2020 Shirley Dutchkowski Oakhavenart.com All rights reserved.
