Irish immigrants Patrick Lucas and Margaret original 160-acre homestead in Castle Rock, Colorado. The Lucas's moved to Colorado in 1893 and made this their home. Patrick Lucas died in the concrete house in 1936 and Margaret moved to Denver in 1941. The concrete house was never lived in again. The ruins can still be seen today along Homestead trail at Castlewood Canyon State Park.
My name is Shirley Dutchkowski and I have collections of artwork, as well as photography. I did my first painting in January of 2019. I read somewhere to "embrace the loneliness and reinvent yourself" and that's exactly what I did that winter. I started painting. As a new artist, I found creating to be my salvation. Art has the ability to free the mind and cleanse the soul. It provides a release of all that holds us stuck in time and takes us to the most wonderful places.
