Artist's Description
Built in 1937 as a commemorative tower and chapel Will Rogers Shrine is at an elevation of 8136ft and located on Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This 100-foot tall observation tower was constructed by Spencer Penrose and also serves as his tomb. The tower is named after William Penn Adair Rogers who was an American vaudeville performer, actor, and humorous. Rodgers was a Cherokee Indian and cowhand and one of the greatest ropers of all time. Penrose built many of the city's prominent properties, including the neighboring Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and The Broadmoor resort.
About Shirley Dutchkowski
My name is Shirley Dutchkowski and I have collections of artwork, as well as photography. I did my first painting in January of 2019. I read somewhere to "embrace the loneliness and reinvent yourself" and that's exactly what I did that winter. I started painting. As a new artist, I found creating to be my salvation. Art has the ability to free the mind and cleanse the soul. It provides a release of all that holds us stuck in time and takes us to the most wonderful places. I hope you enjoy my work and it takes you somewhere special. https://oakhavenart.com/ © Copyright 2020 Shirley Dutchkowski Oakhavenart.com All rights reserved.
