Black and white daisy painting in acrylic on canvas. Daisies are most often used to symbolize purity and innocence. It is one of the official birth flowers for the month of April. The daisy was long associated with the Virgin Mary in Christian tradition. This is because of its meanings of innocence, chastity, and humility.

My name is Shirley Dutchkowski and I have collections of artwork, as well as photography. I did my first painting in January of 2019. I read somewhere to "embrace the loneliness and reinvent yourself" and that's exactly what I did that winter. I started painting. As a new artist, I found creating to be my salvation. Art has the ability to free the mind and cleanse the soul. It provides a release of all that holds us stuck in time and takes us to the most wonderful places.
